About Us

OUR STORY

Flat Dog Supply, was established in 2024 in Georgetown, South Carolina, with a goal to distribute our entrepreneurial passion project, constructiveHEARTS. As the parent company of constructiveHEARTS, our initial goal is to achieve success with this product line, and in the future expand our offerings by curating and distributing a variety of well crafted and unique lines.

Flat Dog Supply and constructiveHEARTS are led by a reinvented
entrepreneur, Peri Phillips. Peri began her career at Turner Broadcasting as a multimedia producer. She moved to the agency side of things, and eventually landed in an agency role in Auckland, New Zealand where she and her husband, Graham, lived for a season on life. Two dogs and two boys later, motherhood became the primary calling, with an original stationery business woven in along the way. While raising good boys, an opportunity arose to teach dyslexic learners, a passion that was followed for the next 10 years. Kids then do as we're grateful they do. The nest became empty and the next season of life arrived full of potential and new adventures. A 20 year plan of moving from Atlanta to Georgetown ensued... and with the support of her family, a 12 year old idea, constructiveHEARTS, was refreshed... and Flat Dog Supply was born.
WHAT's IN A NAME?
Peri and Graham are low country outdoor enthusiasts - so the brainstorm of names included the likes of pluff mud, creeks, and oyster beds. To no avail...all seemed to be in use in some capacity. Then we thought about what we call alligators.... flat dogs! While living in New Zealand, we learned of the term 'flat dog' - what the Australians call the 'salties' (salt water crocs). It resonated, stuck with us, and our family has called alligators 'flat dogs' ever since. Now our namesake, we smile daily reflecting on family time, raising good boys, and spreading the king of the marsh's nickname.
WE ARE PRO AMERICA!
We love this soil that we call home - from the low country, to the highest peaks, and all of the in-betweens. Our goal is to promote Made in the USA businesses. That may result in a little higher pricing at times, but it's one of our guiding principles.

The majority of our materials are made in the USA - findings, chain, and printed packaging. Some of our chain is made in Italy or Turkey. When that's the case, it is because we have not yet found a viable Made in the USA alternative. We are always striving for this - so if you have some local sourcing ideas, please share them with us! The bricks that we use are the only component in the constructiveHEARTS necklaces that may be made in China. According to online sources, the manufacturer currently produces in Denmark, Hungary, Mexico, and China.
